Mars

Last night I enjoyed watching (or listening really) to coverage of the landing of the Mars Spirit Rover at the NASA Television Landing Page (several links on page). It worked beatifully last night until the Rover landed; then apparently the server was overwhelmed and I wasn't able to re-establish the connection. (It was time for me to go to sleep, anyway.) I thought it odd that scientists would feel the need to open lucky bags of candy--what was that about?
